Here is very cool 8 song demo from Chicago-based hair band Nikki Foxx -- It sounds like a solo artist, but it's a band, and a good one...enjoy!!!

SWEATIN' BULLETS

It's been a LONG time since I posted anything. Just haven't had the time. Have come across a lot of cool stuff though. Problem is it's stuff that is on millions of other blogs. I only like to post stuff that I haven't seen anywhere else, and then, only if I have time. Here's a nice compilation I put together a while back. This features all ten songs from this band's 1993 demo, and all five songs from the band's 1995 demo. They were WAY too late to make much noise on the scene, but they were very cool, and had some killer songs. Enjoy...

Roxx (Canada) 1990 demo

Here we have a nice demo that from what I've heard, is pretty hard to come by. I don't know much about these guys other than that they were from Alberta, Canada. They put out a full length cd, but to date, I have been unable to track it down. If any of you have it, please let me know!!!

HARI KARI (Canada) demos

It's been a while since I've posted. I've just been too busy. I look at some of the blogs some of my rock friends have up and I'm blown away. How do they have time for all that? Anyway...

The whole idea of this blog is to try and limit what I post to stuff that I haven't seen anywhere else. This newest post is for sure a qualifier.

I dig around a lot when I get in one of these tapes. I try to track down the bands, see what they are up to these days, learn more about them, etc. On this band, I failed big time. I've spent hours trying to find any trace that this band actually ever existed. The shocker is that I have a LOT of info from this tape, and the songs on it. I know the names, stage names and real names of the band members, and I know they were found in St. Catherines, Ontario. I know they formed in 1991, and that members of this band used to be in bands called Sir Wicked and China White. But that's it. I haven't been able to find any info on those bands, nor have I been able to contact any members of this band. This is good stuff though. Not the greatest band I've ever heard or anything -- just good, solid straight forward hard rock. Hopefully you'll enjoy it!!! If any of you have info on this band, please let me know!

SHOCK LaRUE - 1993 Demos

Shock LaRue was a killer hair band that put out this nice four song demo tape in 1993, which was unfortunately about two years too late to have much chance of doing anything. That being said, they were most certainly a victim of timing, not lack of talent. This is a solid hard rock demo that should be a part of every collection. I came upon this recently, and I thought you would all enjoy it...Let me know your thoughts. You can still find members of this band on myspace playing in an 80's tribute band called "The Reagan Years"... Here's the link:

Venice (Krypteria) demo

Way back when...you know when that was, a lot of today's "modern" rockers were cheezy, hair banders -- most were WAY cooler back then! Venice was a very, very good commercial hard rock/aor band from Germany back in the heyday of hair. This four song demo is in a word, superkickbutt! :) Anyway, three of these four dudes stayed together and today make up 75% of the German metal band Krypteria. If you don't know Krypteria, you should. They actually are, especially by modern rock standards, pretty friggin' good. They have a Korean, female singer who is amazing, and the band sounds a bit like Nightwish, just with less instrumentation. I'd suggest you enjoy this demo, then go support Krypteria. Their official website is below.

Tears (France) 1989 Demo

Although most don't know it, France had a thriving glam/hair band scene in the late 80's. There were a few bands that were pretty popular on the local level, but none of them ever broke through with any degree of worldwide success. Tears was probably the most infamous of these bands. This group of sleaze glamsters sported Sunset Strip style names like "Punky Diamonds" and "Kenny Lace" and could teaze their hair up as well as any Hollywood band of the era! Not much has surfaced in the trading world from these guys, but I recently got a hold of their debut three song demo tape from a collector friend of mine, and I thought you would all enjoy it! Please post a comment and let me know what you think!
